Application Settings

In Application Settings, you have the flexibility to enable or disable various content types and features. This includes content like chat and spaces. You can choose from the following settings:

  • On: Activates the feature in the top-level community and allows spaces to enable or disable the feature.
  • Off: Disables the feature in both the top-level community and in spaces.
  • Only in Spaces: Disables the feature in the top-level community but allows spaces to enable the feature.

Note: The "top-level community" refers to the entire scope of your intranet. In contrast, "spaces" are sub-communities. Content in private spaces is only visible to its members, whereas top-level content is accessible to everyone through the Browse menu.

To access Application Settings, click the gear icon from the homepage, then click Control Panel > System > Application Settings.

Content Types

Content Description
Articles Articles are formally written content that educates readers about specific topics. They typically are longer than blog posts.
Blogs Blogs are informal, opinion-based written pieces about various topics. Generally, blog posts are shorter and less formal than articles.
Broadcasts Broadcasts allows organizations to send messages and notifications to a large audience simultaneously. They can be used for sharing important announcements, updates, or critical information within a company or community.
Cases Cases are versatile tools for tracking diverse items, including customer support requests, software bugs, and project tasks. Each space within the platform includes an integrated case tracker.
Discussions Discussions are structured within forums where users can post and engage in conversations about particular subjects. Users can like, respond, subscribe to forums or individual discussions, and mark replies as the definitive answer.
Events Events within the calendar function help organize and track both events and personal activities. Features like RSVP tracking, comments, event resources, and calendar sharing make event planning and coordination easy.
Files Files in Communifire are managed through a sophisticated, flexible system. Files can be uploaded to spaces or the community at large, organized into folders, and tagged with properties like titles and descriptions. The system retains all file versions, allowing you to revert to previous versions at any time.
Ideas Ideas are user-generated suggestions that can be posted and voted on. Ideas include a title, description, category, and developmental stage.
Photos Photos can be uploaded and organized into albums. Users can download, like, rate, and comment on photos and albums.
Polls and Surveys Polls and Surveys enable space members to cast votes and share opinions.
Tasks Tasks are to-do items relevant to a space. Tasks are separated into task lists and are assigned to specific users. Tasks have a priority and status and can have a due date and estimated completion time. You can sort tasks and move tasks to different task lists. Users can comment on and follow tasks.
Videos Videos in Communifire are easily shared and viewed. Users can upload videos directly, share from platforms like YouTube and Vimeo, or use embed codes. Interaction is encouraged through features like likes, comments, and ratings.
Wall Posts Wall Posts are updates visible on My Activity Stream, which is the central hub for updates from your spaces and connections.
Wikis Wikis are easily-accessed pages of useful content. Wiki pages can be organized into a hierarchy. Users can like, follow, and comment on wiki pages.

Features

Feature Description
Chat Communifire's chat feature enables seamless communication and collaboration within your organization. You can engage in one-on-one conversations or group discussions, exchange messages and files, and stay updated with notifications to ensure you never miss important developments. If chat is enabled, you can configure settings to allow users to chat with anyone, only with their Connections or let each user decide individually. If it is set for users to decide, then each user can choose from their preferences whether only connections, anyone, or admins only can chat with them. 
Comments The comments feature is integral to fostering engagement and interaction on the platform. It allows users to share feedback, thoughts, and engage in meaningful discussions on various content types, such as articles, blog posts, and more.
Content Expiration By enabling content expiration, you can set a specific date and time for content, such as Articles, Blogs, Files, Videos, and Wikis, to expire. You can also manage the visibility of the content after it has expired, giving you control over the lifecycle of your content.
Document Control Enhance your document management strategy with the document control feature. It allows for a structured approach to managing your files, including capabilities for checking in and checking out documents. This process ensures better version control and document integrity.
Likes Users can show their appreciation or agreement with content and comments through the "like" functionality. Optionally, you can also enable a "dislike" feature, providing a platform for users to express disagreement or differing opinions constructively.
Personas Personas refer to dynamic user groups created by administrators to target communications, set up automation tasks, and connect the workforce to relevant information, thereby enhancing productivity. These personas are tailored to meet the specific needs of a company, based on information about different user types within an intranet.
Organizational Chart

You can choose to enable or disable the Organizational Chart feature, giving you control over the visibility of your organization's structure.
Rating Users can rate content and comments, providing valuable feedback and insights. You can also enable the rating of comments on content, further enhancing the feedback mechanism.
Required Reading Enabling the Required Reading feature is useful for disseminating important information. Authors can mark certain content as "required reading," ensuring that critical information is flagged for users. The feature also includes tracking capabilities to monitor who has confirmed they have read the necessary content.
Recognition Acknowledge and celebrate the contributions and achievements of individuals or teams within your organization. This feature enables you to highlight standout performances and milestones, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation.
Spaces Spaces are dedicated sections within Communifire, designed to streamline collaboration and content organization. They provide a focused environment for users to engage with specific topics, projects, or team activities, enhancing productivity and community building.
