The Required Reading functionality allows an author to flag published content as mandatory reading. It also allows tracking of users that have indicated that they have read the content.
The following Content Types can be marked as required reading:
Articles
Blogs
Manage Space: CMS Pages
Files
Ideas
Videos
Wikis
First turn on Required Reading in the Control Panel.
Select the content type from the drop down menu for which you want to enable required reading.
Tick the check boxes in the Mark As Required Reading column for the roles that you want to be able to mark content as Required Reading. These are often administrators, content publishers, or moderators. You can choose multiple roles.
Now tick the check boxes in the Must Read column for the roles you want to allow to say: "I read this content". You can choose multiple roles.
When creating content, you should now see the Required Reading checkbox. Create your content. Make sure to tick the check box to make this content required reading. After you are finished, click Save and Publish.
Everyone in the space will receive a notification that they have Required Reading. They can click the notification to view the content.
People will also receive an email.
People can also find their Required Reading list in My Activity Stream.
People that are required to read the content will see a red section with a button to confirm that they read the content.
Check out View Report to learn how to view a report of the people that confirmed that they read the content.
Note: When people are added to a space that already has content marked as required reading, the space's content will appear in My Activity Stream > My Required Reading .
