The Required Reading functionality allows an author to flag published content as mandatory reading and track users who have indicated that they have read the content.
The following Content Types can be marked as required reading:
Articles
Blogs
Manage Space: CMS Pages
Files
Ideas
Videos
Wikis
First, turn on Required Reading in the Control Panel.
Select the content type from the drop-down menu for which you want to enable the required reading.
Tick the check boxes in the Mark As Required Reading column for the roles that you want to be able to mark content as Required Reading. These are often administrators, content publishers, or moderators. You can choose multiple roles.
Now tick the check boxes in the Must Read column for the roles you want to allow to say: "I read this content". You can choose multiple roles.
When creating content, you should now see the Required Reading checkbox. Create your content, and make sure to tick the check box to make it required reading. After you are finished, click Save and Publish.
When updating content that is labeled as required reading, you have the option to select whether you want people who have already confirmed to read again. This option is visible when you Edit content under "Update Options."
Everyone in the space will receive a notification that they have Required Reading. They can click the notification to view the content.
People will also receive an email.
People can also find their Required Reading list in My Activity Stream.
People who are required to read the content will see a red section with a button to confirm that they have done so.
Check out View Report to learn how to view a report of the people who confirmed that they read the content.
Send browser & email notifications for required reading content and notify all users when desired.
NOTE: Only users with the Mark as Required Reading permission enabled can send out notifications.
1. In the View Report page, click on the Send Reminder Now button.
2. Confirm on the next screen to send the reminder to the users.
3. A confirmation message will appear at the top of the screen and browser, and an email notification will have been sent out.
1. Edit the email template for this reminder in Control Panel > System > Email Templates.
2. Search for ReadRequired.Reminder and click on the edit icon.
3. Edit the template as desired.
Note: When people are added to a space that already has content marked as required reading, the space's content will appear in My Activity Stream > My Required Reading.
