Daily Digest Email

The daily digest email summarizes the past 24 hours of activity in spaces you are a member of.

Users receive a daily email full of the days activities at the time you specify. Content from spaces the user is a member of will be included in the daily digest email. The user must have "receive email notifications" and "daily digest" enabled in Preferences to receive the daily digest. 

Note: To enable daily digest emails, ensure the system property EnableDailyDigestEmails is set to 1 (default). When enabled, users will receive a daily summary email of activities within all spaces they are members of.

Customize the Daily Digest

To customize the daily digest, go to Control Panel > System > Email Templates and edit the Communifire.Space.DailyDigestEmail template. This template contains the content that appears at the top and bottom of the digest.

Editing Communifire.Space.DailyDigestEmail

{{SPACES_ACTIVITY_DIGEST}} is replaced by the system properties DailyDigestSpaceListTemplate and DailyDigestItemListTemplate. To customize the space section and digest item templates, go to Control Panel > System > System Properties and edit those properties.

Daily Digest Settings

To change daily digest settings and customize the space section and digest item templates, go to Control Panel > System > System Properties and edit the following properties.

Setting Description
DailyDigestExcludedActivityTypes Sets the activities that are excluded from the daily digest emails. The list of activities is available here. 
DailyDigestIncludeLikes Sets whether to include likes in the daily digest email or not
DailyDigestIncludeTLCActivities Sets whether to include activity from the top level community in the daily digest email or not
Note: To see this system property, click View All in the category list
DailyDigestItemListTemplate

Sets the style template for repeated activity items in daily activity email
Available mnemonics:

  • {{ACTIVITY_DATE}} - Replaced by when the activity occurred
  • {{ACTIVITY_TEXT}} - Replaced by the activity description (e.g. "updated a file", "has created a new case", "liked a comment", etc)
  • {{AVATAR_PATH}} - Replaced by the user's profile image URL, wrapped in an <img> element
  • {{PROFILE_URL}} - Replaced by the user's profile URL
  • {{USER_AVATAR_ALT}} - Replaced by the user's display name
DailyDigestSpaceListTemplate

Sets the style template for repeated space items in daily activity email
Available mnemonics:

  • {{DIGEST_ITEMS}} - Replaced by DailyDigestItemListTemplate
  • {{SPACE_NAME}} - Replaced by the space name
  • {{SPACE_URL}} - Replaced by the space URL
DigestEmailsTime

Sets time in UTC to send the digest email to users (in hours:minutes, 24-hour format). 

You can customize different times for Daily and Weekly digests by entering two times, separated by a comma. If you enter one time then it will be used for both weekly and daily digests. If you enter two then the first will be used for daily, the second for weekly. If you change DigestEmailsTime, you may need to wait a day before you receive the digest at the new time.

Note: The digest will not send twice in a 12-hour period. 
EnableDailyDigestEmails Sets whether to enable daily digest emails in all spaces that a user is a member of or not

How to Send a Test Daily Digest Email

You can send a test daily digest email to a user.

  1. Go to Control Panel > System > Email Templates.
  2. Edit the Communifire.Space.DailyDigestEmail email template.
  3. At the bottom of the edit page is a search bar. Search for then select a user.
  4. Click Send Test Email.

How to Unsubscribe From All Digest Emails

You can unsubscribe from the digest emails of all spaces by clicking the link at the bottom of the email.

If you do not want users to be able to unsubscribe from all spaces, go to Control Panel > System > Email Templates, edit the Communifire.Space.DailyDigestEmail template, and remove the last sentence.

How to Change Image Sizes in the Daily Digest Email for Outlook

Images in the daily digest email may appear large in Outlook. To fix this, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Control Panel > System > System Properties.
  2. Search for DailyDigestItemListTemplate and edit it.
  3. Find src="{{AVATAR_PATH}}"
  4. Add width="50" height="50" after  src="{{AVATAR_PATH}}"
