You can publish content on behalf of other users. Once you publish the content, the other user appears as the author and receives notifications about activity on the content. The following content types can be ghostwritten:
Select a content type.
Select a space to post to.
Fill out the content.
In the author field, enter the user to post for. Start typing a name and select the user from the menu that appears.
Tips:
If you Save as Draft , set the author to yourself for easy access to the draft. You can find your drafts in My Apps and Tools > My Content . Once you finish working on the content, set the author and publish the content.
To receive notifications about likes and comments on the content, click Follow Content .
Set to true.
For top level content, update the GhostwritingEnabled property in Control Panel > System > System Properties .
To allow users to ghostwrite content, go to Manage Space > Permissions. Check the Select Author permission for the role. Also check the Edit permission to allow the user to update content they ghostwrote.
For top level content, go to Control Panel > Content > select a content type > Permissions.
To see author history and who changed the content author, click the gear icon > View History . The Last updated by column shows who updated the content.
Are there any plans to add this functionality to Files?
Hey Aaron,
There are no plans to add ghostwriting functionality for files.
Grace
Thanks, Grace. Will there be any other means of assigning a file to a new owner? For example:
Employee X uploads File 1 to Space A, but transfers out of the department (and Space A) and should no longer be responsible for for File 1; instead, we'd like Employee B to be the owner and get notifications, etc.
We don't have plans to add such functionality either. Users can Follow Content to get notifications about comments and updates to the content.
We don't see the System Properties option when going into Manage Spaces.
Hi Andrew,
You will need to be updated to a newer version of Communifire in order to get the Ghost Writing capability. Please open a Private Case so that we can coordinate a time to get together to update your site.
Thanks,Foster
Is it possible to Ghost Write for the home page?
Hey Daniel,
What area of the homepage are you referring to? Please share a screenshot. Feel free to create a private case here if the homepage contains sensitive information.
Hey Grace,
By home page, I meant I just want to place an Article to the Top Level Community via content list widget (page builder) and I want that article to be written by somebody else.
Yes, you can enable ghostwriting in the top level community. Go to Control Panel > System > System Properties, search for GhostwritingEnabled, and set it to true. Then update article permissions in Control Panel > Content > Articles > Permissions. Check the Select Author permission for the roles that can ghostwrite content, and save permissions. You can also create new roles in Control Panel > People > Roles > Add User Role .
Thank you!
Hi, is it possible to 'Ghostwrite' events and idea content types in the Top Level Community? I've got it enabled but don't see the option when I go into the permissions for that content type.
Hi Ian, It is only possible to ghostwrite for Articles, Blogs, Videos, and Wikis. We do not support ghostwriting Events and Ideas. Foster
