Rebuild Search Index refreshes your content and rebuilds the search index. You may need to refresh your content if you notice anything is missing from My Activity Stream , Space Activity Stream , a Page Builder page, or from your Search results.
Your intranet data is stored in a database on a separate server, and transferring this data from the database server to the web server impacts performance of your site. We implemented a feature which transfers your data from the database server to the web servers memory when your site is started, making your content available in local memory for better speed performance.
Clicking Rebuild Search Index will remove content from Page Builder pages and Search until the process finishes reinserting your database content into server memory. This could take a few minutes depending on how much content you have. Do not close the browser window while the search index is being rebuilt. Do NOT click the "Rebuild Index" button more than once - if you are having problems after attempting a search index rebuild, please contact support before proceeding further. We recommend rebuilding your search index during non-business hours.
To rebuild all the content, click Rebuild Index.
To rebuild certain content types, click the down arrow next to the Rebuild Index button
Multiple content types can be selected by clicking on the individual items. Once the content types have been selected, click Rebuild Index to start the rebuild.
Progress will be displayed throughout the rebuild process, which is displayed above the Rebuild Index button.
Once the rebuild is complete you will see the following message:
