The Page Builder is a drag and drop interface to create page layouts in Communifire. It simplifies the process of designing your Homepage, Space pages, and CMS pages. You can create as many pages as your organization needs. It makes it easy to create responsive, column based layouts that adapt to all mobile devices. It's easy to learn and even easier to get started. You'll be building beautiful pages in no time.
The Page Builder was made with user experience at the forefront of its priorities. The builder transforms elements into visual building blocks, allowing anyone to understand and edit the layout and content of their pages without touching a single line of code. There are no limitations as to how widgets can be customized and arranged, making Page Builder the most flexible tool of its kind available on the market.
Page Builder's simple drag and drop interface means you'll never need to write a single line of code. Page Builder generates all the highly efficient code for you. This opens up endless opportunities to give your Communifire platform a unique look and feel.
To access the Page Builder, you must have Administrator privileges.
Click on the gear icon, then choose Admin dashboard.
From the Admin dashboard, click on System. Then choose Page Builder.
You'll be taken to the list of pages. If this is your first time visiting this page, it's likely that only one page will be shown, the Homepage. To get a feel of the user interface and how things are laid out, click on the page name for the Homepage. Alternatively, you could click the gear icon, then choose Edit Page. This will take you into the Page Builder's interface. In the next few screenshots, we'll give you a tour of the different tools and panels available.
The Page Builder is made up of 3 main panels:
1. The Header
2. The Sidebar
3. The Layout designer
Across the top of the screen, you'll see a number of options.
The All Pages hyperlink will take you back to the list of pages.
The Layout and Preview buttons will allow you to toggle between "Layout View" and "Preview". The Layout view is where you drag and drop elements and the Preview is where you can take a look at the page as you build it.
The Publish changes button allows you to save the page.
The Gear button give you a number of options to Clone the page, Delete the page, Add a new page, and quick access to the Templates tool.
The sidebar gives you quick access to your page Details, Layout, and Widgets.
The Details tab allows you to edit your Page name, the space where it is located, and the Page Url. You can also enter in the Meta Title, Meta Description, Header Scripts, Footer Scripts, and you can also set the Body CSS Class.
The Layout tab gives you 9 preset options to create Rows and Columns for your layout. You can also create your own row/column by typing numbers into the Create your own textbox. Page Builder uses a 12-column responsive grid that uses a CSS file to automatically calculate the width of each module, across different device sizes. This feature saves designers a ton of time, because they don't need to mess with styling the widths.
To add a row, click and drag one of the presets onto your Layout Designer.
The Widgets tab gives you various widgets or controls that you can drag into your page to build layouts. Each of these widgets is unique and allows you to perform a number of customizations, such as displaying lists of content, list of people, lists of spaces, rich text, raw html, iframes, etc.
The layout designer area is where you will drag and drop elements from the Layout Tab and the Widget Tab to build your pages.
