Badges are a great way to encourage participation in your intranet. You can create challenge badges that are earned through completing specific actions in your intranet (defined by you). Each challenge badge has a process that specifies the activity steps a user must complete to earn the badge. Or create kudos badges that people can award to one another. 

1. Click the gear icon > Control Panel > People > Recognition.
2. Click Add badge.
3. Fill in the following:
   • Title: The title appears in Recognition pages and Activity Stream pages.
   • Summary: The summary appears in badge summaries, in the wall post announcements, and in the email people get when receiving the badge.
   • Description: The description appears on the badge detail page.
4. Click Add image to upload an image. Click Badge Stock to select an image from the icon gallery.
5. Select the Recognition Program the badge is under.
6. Check the Roles that can grant this award.
7. Check the following options:
   • Active: Allow people to earn this badge.
   • People can receive multiple times: Allow people to be awarded the badge multiple times. (If the badge can be awarded.)
   • Publicize in the activity stream when awarded: The wall post for the badge will be visible by everyone in the intranet. If you leave this blank, the wall post will be visible to just the person receiving, their friends, and the person granting the badge.
8. Select a Challenge for the badge or create a new one. Refer to Add Badge Challenge for details about creating a new challenge.
9. Click Save.
