Box Integration Administrator Setup | Communifire Documentation

Communifire supports a two-way sync between Files and Box. Box sync has the following features:

• Your Box files will appear in Files (and will sync automatically every 3 hours)
• You can upload files to Box in Communifire
• You can download Box files in Communifire

Step 1: Configure the Box App

1. Visit My Apps in the developer console.
2. Click Create new app.
3. Click Custom app.
4. Select User authentication (OAuth 2.0).
5. Enter a name for the app. This name will appear on the consent screen that users see when they connect their Box account.
6. Click Create app.
7. In the OAuth 2.0 redirect URI section, for Redirect URI, enter your site URL followed by /oauth2/boxcom/callback. (e.g. https://myintranet.com/oauth2/boxcom/callback or https://myintranet.communifire.com/oauth2/boxcom/callback)
8. Click Save changes.
9. In the OAuth 2.0 Credentials section, copy the Client ID and Client secret and save them for later.

Step 2: Add the Box App in Communifire

1. In Communifire, go to Control Panel > System > Integrations.
2. Click Add Connected Account.
3. Select Box.com.
4. Enter a display name. This name will appear in My Integrations when a user has connected their account.
5. Enter the client ID and client secret you copied.
6. Set where users can connect to Box from:
   
   • Available in top level community: Users can connect to Box in Browse > Files. (Note: If enabled, files must be set to On in Control Panel > System > Application Settings.)
   • Available in spaces: Space admins can add Box in any space. Users can connect to Box in the space Files section.
   • Available in Personal Connect: Users can connect to Box in My Files .
7. Click Save Settings.

Step 3: Add Box to the Files Section

Option 1: Add Box in a specific space or the top level community

1. Navigate to one area depending on where you want users to connect to Box:
   • To add Box to the Files section of a specific space, go to Manage Space > External Drives.
   • To add Box to Browse > Files, go to Control Panel > System > External Drives.
2. Click Add External Drives.
3. Click Box.com.
4. Enter a Display name. The display name will appear when users open the Box folder.
5. In Connected Account, select the Box account you added.
6. Click Connect.
7. A new tab will open. Click Grant access to Box.
8. You'll be returned to Communifire. Click Save Settings.

Once settings are saved, users can connect to Box in the Files section of the space or in Browse > Files.

Option 2: Add Box to My Files

If you enabled Available in Personal Connect, go to Control Panel > System > System Properties and set ShowNewMyAccountFilesView to true. Once this is enabled, users can connect to Box in My Files.

Notes: 

• Please refer to your organization's Box license to determine whether your organization is subject to additional fees for Box API usage. Box API usage by Axero will depend on the number of Box files and users connected.
• Use BoxIntegrationIndexFileSizeLimit System Properties to indicate the file size limit (in bytes) for indexing the file's content for search. If the file's size is larger than the value set, the file's content with not be indexed. The file name and description will still show up in search results but not its content.
