Point Levels | Communifire Documentation

Points and point levels are part of Communifire's gamification features.

Any intranet platform is only as successful as the activity it generates and the contribution from its users. Recognition for participation by each user can be done through the points system, which rewards users for their contributions and encourages them to actively participate.

When people participate in the platform, they earn points for content they create (such as posting an article or starting a discussion). They also earn points for actions they take, like commenting on or liking content. As people receive points from the actions they make (or take), they earn point levels. The more points they earn, the higher the level they receive.

Points and point levels are valuable, because at a glance, you can identify power users. For example, throughout the platform, when you hover over a person's name, a User Card appears. In this User Card, you can see the point level they have achieved. You can also use the People Widget to see a list of the top point earners of all time, the last 30 days, this week, and today.

Communifire comes with 5 point levels: Lurker, Starter, Contributor, Professional, and Guru. You can add, edit, and delete point levels in the Control Panel.

Add Point Level

1. Click the gear icon > Manage People > Point Levels.
2. Click Add Point Level.
3. Enter the following:
   • Level / Rank name
   • Minimum Points
   • Maximum Points
   • Rank image
4. Click Save.

Edit Point Level

1. Click the gear icon > Manage People > Point Levels.
2. Make changes to point levels.
3. Click Save.

Delete Point Levels

Do not delete all point levels as this can cause system instability.

1. Click the gear icon > Manage People > Point Levels.
2. For a point level, click the delete icon.
3. Click Yes.
4. Update the minimum/maximum of the remaining levels until there are no point gaps between levels.
5. Click Save.

Rank Image

The ideal dimensions for the rank image is 38x12, or a similar ratio. If you upload an image with different dimensions, you can use CSS overrides to resize the image. Add the code below in Control Panel > System > CSS Overrides.
