Creating Spaces is an easy, guided process that involves setting preferences, customizing appearance, and choosing the apps you want to use within your space. Click Create. Then click Space.
Note: Take advantage of our Stock Space Images available for download.
Space creation is broken down into two major steps, each with their own minor steps and settings.
This step establishes the overall purpose of the space. By filling in the “space name” and “space description” fields, you let everyone know what the space aims to accomplish. When you finish creating the space, this information can be found in the Info app on the sidebar.
The most important part of Step 1 involves choosing the settings for visibility and how to handle people wanting to join the space. "Type of space" determines how coworkers can view this space. There are three types of spaces.
If a space is public, everyone who has access to spaces can find it whenever they like. The "Moderate user registration" setting determines whether a request to join is automatically approved, or if they need to be approved by a space moderator. Choose the settings that best serve each space’s purpose.
Space photo: Select the image that will serve as your space’s logo. To select the image you want, simply click “Upload” and search your folders for the image. Communifire supports BMP, PNG, GIF, JPEG, and JPG file types.
For best results when choosing an image keep in mind that square images (width close to that of height) work best for the thumbnails created in the Spaces header menu dropdown.
NOTE: You can change these settings at any time by clicking the Manage Space link below the space’s title on its homepage.
This final step allows you to choose the applications and content types that will appear on the space’s menu. These apps serve as communication, collaboration, and content management tools for members of the space, allowing them to discuss ideas and share information.
Each field has a “On” or “Off” option. You can change these settings and add new apps at any time using Manage Space.
If a content type has been disabled for the entire community it will not appear as an option for the space.
When you’re satisfied with your settings, click “Save Settings” and your space will be created. You'll be taken to the Space Homepage screen. From there you can begin adding content, inviting people, and get down to work.
