The Search Analytics report is designed to offer you valuable insights into how users search for content, the words they use, what they search for, and what content they click on. View key details about searches being completed across your site in three subsections: 

1. Terms: In this section, you have the opportunity to explore the terms that users utilize when searching for content.
2. Activity: You can view each search that has been performed and the content that was clicked as a result of that search.
3. Content: You can explore which content is clicked through the most from the searched terms, and filter them by content type.

Terms

Within this subsection, you can explore the terms users utilize when searching for content. You have the flexibility to select the timeframe of searches to fine-tune your report. Additionally, you can apply filters to narrow down your analysis by Spaces, the person who performed the search, or the specific Search Term. These features empower you to gain comprehensive insights into user search behaviors and patterns.

Sorting

The terms are arranged by most used by default, but you can modify this order by clicking on the header of any column to get searches ranked by different metrics. The metrics will provide you with a comprehensive view of the searched keywords utilized by users. These metrics include:

• Searches: The count of how many times a search was executed with the specific term.
• Clicks-Through: The number of times users clicked to content returned in the search.
• Click-Through Rate (CTR): The percentage of clicks a particular link received out of the total number of searches it accumulated.

Timeframe

You have the ability to choose the specific timeframe you wish to analyze. By default, the system is set at All Time, but you have the flexibility to opt for a day, an entire month, the past 12 months, or even set a custom range according to your needs.

Download

You have the option to download the report displayed on the screen as a CSV file. The downloaded file will reflect the applied filters, ensuring the information remains consistent with your analysis.

Recommendations

With the goal of enhancing your search capabilities, the following recommendations provide actionable insights to optimize user experience and ensure content accessibility.

Prioritize Low CTR Terms
Begin by identifying highly searched terms that have a click-through rate (CTR) below 50%. This step highlights potential gaps in content relevance and user engagement.

Refine Spelling and Integrate Synonyms
Assess search terms for accuracy in spelling and consider adding relevant synonyms. This enhances search precision and ensures users find the content they seek.

Curate Missing Content
Review the search results and identify if there is a specific content that should be displayed. If the content you are expecting to see is missing, you can promote the content for that search term.

Enhance Searches
For searches that leverage multiple words, explore partial versions of the Search Term to identify areas to improve search results.

User Search Patterns
Gain insights into user behavior by observing how individuals search your site. Identify recurring search terms, providing opportunities to tailor content and deliver a more personalized experience.

You can gain valuable insights into each search executed and the content that was clicked as a result. The list of completed searches is displayed with the most recent at the top, aiding your analysis. Additionally, you have the ability to apply filters based on the Space, the Person who initiated the search, or the specific Search Term. These functionalities provide you with a comprehensive understanding of search behaviors and trends among users.

Explore key aggregated metrics that provide an understanding of search terms. These metrics include:

• Date: The date when the search was performed.
• Search term: A display of the most recent search terms, with the latest ones positioned at the top of the list.
• Person: The name of the user who initiated the content search.
• Clicked content: The items that were clicked on as a result of the search.

Within this functionality, you can analyze insights drawn from content that has been discovered through search, revealing which content is clicked through most from search (not just displayed in the list of results). The displayed list of searches and content is prioritized with higher click-through rates at the top, allowing for a streamlined overview. Furthermore, you have the capability to apply filters based on Content Type, Space, and Search Term, improving your ability to customize and refine the displayed results.  

Explore key aggregated metrics that provide an understanding of clicked content. These metrics include:

• Title: The name of the content clicked as a result of searches, featuring the most-clicked at the top. 
• Content Type: What sort of content it is (i.e. Article, Wiki, File, etc.)
• Space: The content's designated space. 
• Clicks-through: The total number of clicks for each individual piece of content. 
• Search Term: A display of searched terms that led to content clicks.

Search Term Analysis
When you encounter frequently searched terms within the Terms sub-section, look the term up in the Activity section. This will provide insights into the content that users are selecting in response to these popular search terms.

Low Click-Through Rate (CTR) Investigation
In cases where a low click-through rate is observed, despite regular searches for a specific term, consider engaging with users directly. Gather their expectations about what they intend to find and whether their needs are being met. This interaction can offer insights into whether search optimization is required or if users are opening content in new tabs, affecting click-through metrics.
