Impersonating User | Communifire Documentation

Admins can log in as another user, simplifying the testing of permissions and access configurations. You can explore the site as if you were the user, and all your actions and activities will be tracked as if the user themselves were navigating and interacting with the content. To prevent abuse, the impersonation itself is also carefully logged so that activity while impersonating is not confused with the person's own activity.  

To impersonate a user:

1. Click the  gear icon > Control Panel > People > User Section Permissions.
   
   
2. Select a role which can log in as user. 
3. Click Save Permissions.
4. Go to Manage People > Search for the user.
   
   
5. For the user, click the gear icon > Login as user.
   
   
   

Upon logging in, a message will appear at the top of the page, notifying you that you are currently logged in as another user. A button will be positioned next to the message, providing you with the option to stop impersonation whenever needed. If you choose to exit the impersonation, you will automatically be logged back into your profile. However, just closing the browser will end your impersonating so there's no chance of accidentally continuing activity as another person. 

While the activity performed when impersonating is logged as the user, it is also very clear in the User Activity Log which activities were performed by someone else. You will notice a small purple tab for activity that was performed during impersonation. Hovering over the tab will reveal the name of the person who actually performed the activity, providing a transparent and detailed overview of the activity log.
