Add Connect in Teams button to user profiles

The Microsoft Teams integration allows you to open a Teams chat with someone from their profile.

A Connect in Teams button also appears in the User Hover Card when you hover over a person's name.

  1. In Communifire, go to Control Panel > System > System Properties.
  2. Search for EnableMSTeamsIntegration and edit it.
  3. Set the value to true, then click Save.

Once you update the system property, the Connect in Teams button will appear on user profiles. Clicking the button will launch Teams.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The Connect in Teams button doesn't appear after enabling the integration.

Fix:

  1. Go to Control Panel > People > User Profiles > Profile header.
  2. In the editor, find the line <div class="pr-cover-user-actions">
  3. Add a new line
  4. after that line.
  5. Add the following code in the new line: 
    <a href="https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/0?users={{Email}}" target="_blank" class="btn axero-connectInTeams hide"><i class="msTeamsIcon"></i> <span class="btn-text">{{Resource.ConnectInTeamsText}}</span></a>
  6. Click Save.

How to Enable Microsoft Teams Notifications

Enable notifications in Microsoft Teams for content.

  1. Go to https://portal.azure.com > Click on the ≡ button on the top left > Click Azure Active Directory


  2. Click on App registrations.

  3. In App registrations page, click on New registration.

  4. Name: Enter app name.

    Supported account types: Accounts in any organizational directory (Any Azure AD directory - Multitenant) and personal Microsoft accounts (e.g. Skype, Xbox).

    Redirect URI: Select Web, then enter your Communifire base url + /oauth2/MicrosoftTeams/callback.

    Click on Register.

  5. In Overview page, copy the Application (client) ID, Directory (tenant) ID to a file, we will use it later when setting up in Communifire.

  6. In Communifire go to Control Panel > System > System Properties


  7. In the search bar, enter MicrosoftTeamsApi to display 3 properties related to Microsoft Teams Api.

    Enter the values for them, from the value we save in App registrations setup steps.

  8. In Control Panel > Content > Notification Permissions

  9. Select the Role you want to enable Microsoft Teams notification.

  10. Now when notifying users of content the Microsoft Teams option appears:                           
  11. The following modal will appear. Then click Connect to Microsoft Teams.

  12. The full notification modal will show now.

You have the option to select a Microsoft Teams channel of your choice. Utilizing your connected Microsoft Teams account, you can include a personalized message within the chosen channel. This message can include a link and a content summary (if applicable), positioned below your message for enhanced communication effectiveness.

Revoking Microsoft Teams account 

Each person has the option to revoke access to their Microsoft Teams account, whenever they choose.

  1. Simply navigate to Activity Stream > Integrations

  2. Click on the Delete button linked to your Microsoft Teams integration.
