Use a field group to group several fields together and generate a summary of their values. You can add any types of fields to a field group and use any system resources in the field group summary. See the field group example for a step-by-step walkthrough of creating a field group.

Field Group Example

Here is an example of a field group that displays a person's contact preferences. The field group looks like this on the user profile:

And like this on the edit profile page:

How to Create the Field Group

1. Go to Control Panel > People > User Profiles.
2. For the Edit Profile page, click the gear icon > Edit Page.
3. On the Contact Information Section widget, click the gear icon > Expand.
4. Click the Widgets tab.
5. From the Add New Field section, drag a Field Group into the Contact Information section.
6. Drag a Picklist field into the Field Group.
7. Drag a Yes / No field into the Field Group.
8. On the Picklist field, click the gear icon > Edit Properties.
9. Update the Field Label to Best way to reach me is by.
10. Set the Picklist Type to Radio buttons.
11. Click the Field Options.
12. Add the following field options: Email, Phone, Slack, Skype.
13. Click Save Widget.
14. On the Yes / No field, click the gear icon > Edit Properties.
15. Update the Field Label to Open to off-hours requests.
16. Click Save Widget.
17. On the Field Group field, click the gear icon > Edit Properties.
18. Update the Field label to Contact preferences.
19. Click Save Widget.
20. Click Publish changes.
21. Click All pages.
22. For the User Profile page, click the gear icon > Edit Page.
23. For the Work and Contact Information Section widget, click the gear icon > Expand.
24. Click the Widgets tab.
25. From the Fields section, drag the Contact preferences field group onto the page.
26. On the Contact preferences field, click the gear icon > Edit Properties.
27. In the Insert token menu, click Best way to reach me is by and Open to off-hours requests. The tokens will be added in the Field Summary.
28. Update the Field Summary to the following:
    The best way to reach me is by {{{field:Best way to reach me is by}}}. {{#if ||field:Open to off-hours requests||}}I'm available in the evenings and on weekends. {{else}}I am not available in the evenings and on weekends {{/if}}
    
    Note: The if statement checks if the Yes / No field is checked or not.
29. Click Save Widget.
30. Click Publish changes.

Update Your Profile

1. From the homepage, click your name in the header > Edit Profile.
2. Fill out the profile fields: Select one of the contact preferences and check or uncheck Open to off-hours requests.
   
3. Click Save.
4. To view your profile, click your avatar in the header.
