Axero supports Twitter integration for single sign-on (SSO), out-of-the-box. This page walks you through applying for a Twitter developer account and configuring a Twitter App, shows you how to enable Twitter integration, and demonstrates the Twitter login process.

Twitter SSO setup is estimated to take 1-2 days, including the Twitter developer account approval process. Once you complete the guide, Twitter SSO will be active on your intranet. For more information or assistance from the Axero team, submit a private case.

Apply for Twitter Developer Account

A developer account is required to use the Twitter developer platform. If you don't already have a developer account, apply for access.

1. Visit the apply for access page.
2. Click Apply. 
3. Click Apply for a developer account.
4. Select Professional.
5. Select Build customized solutions in-house.
6. Click Get started.
7. Fill out the Basic info and Team profile pages.
8. In the Intended use page, enter the following:
   
   We plan to use the Twitter API to support Twitter single sign-on on our intranet site. Our intranet site is an internal portal for our employees. Our employees use our intranet to communicate with one another, collaborate in teams, and access important files. Adding Twitter single sign-on to our intranet will provide an easy way to log into our intranet.
9. Set the following options to No:
   • Are you planning to analyze Twitter data?
   • Will your app use Tweet, Retweet, Like, Follow, or Direct Message functionality?
   • Do you plan to display Tweets or aggregate data about Twitter content outside Twitter?
   • Will your product, service, or analysis make Twitter content or derived information available to a government entity?
10. Confirm you read the Terms, then click Submit application.
11. You'll receive a verification email. Click the link in the email to verify your developer account.

You'll receive an email that your application is being reviewed. You'll receive another email when your application has been approved.

Configure Twitter App

1. Once your application has been approved, visit the Twitter Developer Portal.
2. In Project & Apps, click Create App.
3. Enter a Name for your app.
4. Click Next.
5. Copy the API Key and API Secret Key and save them for later.
6. Click App settings.
7. In the Authentication settings section, click Edit.
8. Enable 3-legged OAuth.
9. If you want to import users' Twitter email into Axero, enable Request email address from users. If this is disabled, users will be given a @temp.com email address when registering on your intranet via Twitter SSO.
10. If you enabled requesting email address, enter the URLs for your application's privacy policy and terms of service. 
11. In Callback URLs, enter your site URL + /login (e.g., https://myintranet.com/login).
12. In Website URL, enter your site URL.
13. Click Save.

Enable Twitter Login in Axero

1. In Axero, click the  gear icon > Control Panel > System > General Settings.
2. Expand the Social Integration Settings section.
3. Enter the API Key in the Twitter integration API Key field.
4. Enter the API Secret Key in the Twitter integration Secret field.
5. Check Integrate with Twitter.
6. Check Enable 3rd party login.
7. Click Save System Settings.
8. If you didn't enable requesting email address, click System > System Properties.
9. Search for TwitterSSOGetEmails and edit it.
10. Set the value to false and click Save.

Login via Twitter

When a user joins using their Twitter account, their profile photo, name, and—if configured—email address are pulled from Twitter and populated into their Axero profile.
