How to Open Required Ports | Communifire Documentation

Follow these steps to open the necessary ports for on-premises installations. A system administrator familiar with firewall port configuration should perform these actions.

Web Server: Ports 80 & 443

Using Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security:

1. Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security.
2. Go to Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
3. Choose Rule Type as Port.
4. Select TCP and specify local ports 80 and 443.
5. Allow the connection and apply the rule to the appropriate profiles.
6. Name the rule (e.g., WebServerPorts) and finish.

Using netsh Command:

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Run the following commands to add inbound rules for ports 80 and 443:

   netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="WebServerPort80" dir=in protocol=TCP localport=80 action=allow
   
   netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="WebServerPort443" dir=in protocol=TCP localport=443 action=allow

SQL Server: Port 1433

Using Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security:

1. Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security.
2. Go to Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
3. Choose Rule Type as Port.
4. Select TCP and specify local port 1433.
5. Allow the connection and apply the rule to the appropriate profiles.
6. Name the rule (e.g., SQLServerPort) and finish.

Using netsh Command:

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Run the following command to add an inbound rule for port 1433:

   netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="SQLServerPort1433" dir=in protocol=TCP localport=1433 action=allow

Elasticsearch: Port 9207

Using Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security:

1. Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security.
2. Go to Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
3. Choose Rule Type as Port.
4. Select TCP and specify local port 9207.
5. Allow the connection and apply the rule to the appropriate profiles.
6. Name the rule (e.g., ElasticsearchPort) and finish.

Using netsh Command:

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Run the following command to add an inbound rule for port 9207:

   netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="ElasticsearchPort9207" dir=in protocol=TCP localport=9207 action=allow

Licensing: licensing.axerosolutions.com on Port 443

Ensure that your firewall allows outbound traffic to port 443 for this external service. Most firewalls permit outbound traffic on this port by default, but you can verify and adjust settings if necessary.

SMTP Server: Port 25

Using Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security:

1. Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security.
2. Go to Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
3. Choose Rule Type as Port.
4. Select TCP and specify local port 25.
5. Allow the connection and apply the rule to the appropriate profiles.
6. Name the rule (e.g., SMTPServerPort) and finish.

Using netsh Command:

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Run the following command to add an inbound rule for port 25:

   netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="SMTPServerPort25" dir=in protocol=TCP localport=25 action=allow

After completing these steps, the required ports should be open and accessible.
