Our organization includes global staff members in all parts of the globe. Often, a phone app relying on data is stronger than a website running on stretched-thin wifi. Additionally, many of our US based staff are required to travel as part of their work. For these reasons, it's important to us that the mobile app be as robust as possible.
One area of weakness for the app is in not allowing users to edit/update their profile. This can only be done from the website/desktop version of Communifire. We recently ran into a situation where a staff member needed to reset her password. She was not able to access the desktop. She went into the app only to find none of the Personal Settings were available to her. Since it was outside of office hours in the US, no one else was available to help her either. On another occasion, a staff member realized her time zone was not set properly. She wasn't in a position to access the desktop, but the app didn't include the Preferences option. Additionally, we have several staff who prefer to function off apps rather than websites.
Surely ours is not the only workplace with a global workforce or a workforce that prefers the mobility of apps. For these reasons (and other scenarios not provided) I recommend allowing users to edit their profiles and access the full suite of settings from the mobile app.
