Dynamic Download Link - File

Would like to request the ability to easily embed a file download link that can be used in other content types, such as Wikis.  We like to put download links to files in wiki pages instead of linking to the file so users have to click the file link and then download.  Would like to just have 1 click download.

To workaround this we are currently right clicking the download link, grabbing the URL and adding it into the wiki.  When a file version changes, it doesn't update the file download link, so we are forced to also update the URL each time a file changes

    Hi Chris,

If you want to have a direct download link to one of your hosted files, you will have to continue to update the URL each time the file is updated.

However another option that would require less maintenance, would be to use the @ mention of the file name. This way a user can click that and be brought directly to the most recent version of the file so that they can download it.

I hope this helps provide a solution,

I support Chris's suggestion. Our users prefer direct downloads rather than PDF previews.

    Hi Foster,

How do i link the @  mention in my space home page? I have re designed using HTML and CSS so now we have given the file link as hyperlink in the front end so the user downloads the file just by one click. But each time when the file is updated i had change the hyperlink in my code. Kindly let me know if there is more dynamic approach?

    Hi Komal,

You will have to continue to update the URL every time the file is updated, we do not have a way to direct download from a link without doing what you have already set in place.

You can @mention your content on your homepage by adding a Rich Text Widget and mentioning the documents you would like to list here.

    I hope this helps,
