Since we have not yet got our calendar sync worked out, we are having staff just download the calendar events and open them in outlook. For me I am able to do this. But the email looks like this:
For my colleague he gets this when he downloads:
Any insight into either of these? He says when he clicks on the invite he gets a blank invite.
We're looking into the issue with the event description.
Could you ask your colleague how he downloaded the ICS file? Did he download it from the event page in Communifire? Or from the invitation email?
Thanks for the quick reply, from the event page.
I believe both issues are occurring because Outlook for Mac doesn't officially support importing ICS files. If you open the invite in Outlook for Windows, the event description displays correctly.
The blank invite is a known issue with New Outlook. Your colleague can switch to "Old Outlook" to make the invite open the way it does for you.
I know this was sort of answered, but I keep getting questions about the .ics files not opening in outlook on Mac. I'm wondering if there will ever be a fix for this in the future?
It looks like Outlook updated this behavior this February and importing an ICS file in Outlook for Mac now works. This is what I see now when I try importing an ICS file in Outlook for Mac:
Could you have people check whether they're on version 188.8.131.52 or higher?
Hi Grace, So today someone brought to my attention that you can easily add new appointments, but the time is wrong. Is that something you can fix? Or is there a setting I need to change? See screenshot below. Looks like maybe it is showing pacific time?
This seems to be an issue with Outlook for Mac. If you import an ICS event in Outlook for PC, the time is correct. You may want to reach out to Outlook support.
I realize this is an Outlook for Mac issue. But I have other .ics that do not have this problem. So I believe this issue is something with the Communifire .ics files. Could you please look into this? It is yet another thing that is making things more difficult for my team and the adoption of the platform.
Could you share which calendar provider's ICS is working correctly in Outlook for Mac? Google Calendar? Or a different calendar?
Ok, so I registered for this event: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_pfz94I6kT36U2mDksS4KaA
Which goes through the Zoom webinar platform and added it to my calendar it showed the correct time.
I have just tested the Communifire event and within Outlook for Mac, I have downloaded an event and the time was incorrect. On Outlook for the web it was correct and Google.
Thank you. Our team is looking into a fix.
