Forum + Discussions on Content List widget | Communifire Support

Hello - I was wondering how I can get ONLY the "Optician and License Certification Discussion!" discussion to be featured on my Content List for the Optician page I am building (https://onespot.luxottica.com/Apprentice_Licensed_Optician_Page) 

I don't want all discussions from Run the Business to show up on this page - thank you!

Hi Brooke,

If you are looking to get a very specific set of content to be on a content list, it is often times best to use a unique tag for content in that area. This way, you can tag the discussions you would like to display with "Certified" or a similar unique tag and add it to your filter list. This way only those will show on the widget.

I think I tried doing that and am still seeing a blank space unless i am missing an element

Hi Brooke,

It looks like the Optician and License Certification Discussion forum is located in the top level, not in a space. 

I have changed the space filter from Run the Business to Top Level and now the "Don't forget" discussion topic is showing. 

Is this what you are looking to do?

I just want to make sure discussions under the Optician and License Certification Discussion forum automatically post to this page as people create them and are visible for our employees to see.

Hey again! I recently added the above Forum/discussion. I am having target Optical regionals tell me they cannot start a discussion; however, I am not sure why as they can create general discussions at this time. Can you help me figure out what is going on? I updated the permissions as well but maybe I missed something! Thank you

Hi Brooke,

For the "Optician and License Certification Discussion!" forum, go to Control Panel > Content > Discussions and edit the forum. Then update the permissions for roles. The Create Post permission will allow users to create discussions in the forum. You may also want to check the Edit Post permission. Then click Save.

ah ha! I am also wondering how we can get a thread that automatically updates when people post new discussions. is this possible?

Do you mean you want to display the most recent discussions in the "Optician and License Certification Discussion!" forum on the "Apprentice Licensed Optician"/"Optician and License Certification" page? Currently you can only set a Content List widget to show the most recent discussions from all top level forums, but we can create a template on your site that shows discussions from just the "Optician and License Certification Discussion!" forum.

Which Content List template would you like to use on the page? Icon List Template ? We'll use this template for the new template's design.

Hi Brooke,

I added a template called "Icon List - Optician and License Certification Discussions" to your site. You can now add a Content List widget to display discussions from that specific forum.

For the best results, filter the widget by Forum and Top level community. Also set Total items to a bigger number than you want to display, as the widget includes hidden discussions from your other top level forum.

Then select Icon List - Optician and License Certification Discussions as the template.
