The user group is getting confused about the multiple calendars. Please clarify:

From the top of the page in any space toolbar Browse Calendar:  This is the top level/company wide calendar for Company events?  We tried to use this for a company event and the invitees received an error message when trying to select the event and indicate going to the event. Also, what feeds into this calendar and how do we change what feeds into this calendar?  For example, resources Allocated should be feeding into the company calendar, company wide events with "All Invited' should appear.  And finally, can we change the name of calendar in the drop menu and on its calendar page to "Key Lime Calendar?"

From the top of the page in any space toolbar  User drop down Calendar:  This is the user's personal calendar.  Can we change the name of the calendar to "User's first name" Calendar?

From a space left side menu Calendar: This is the space calendar.  Events in the space calendar asymmetrically propagate the personal calendar of the invitees once accepted.  Can we change the name of the calendar to "Space Name" Calendar?

I've read the support documents and don't find a good explanation of the various calendars and their relationship.

I see Calendar Name under localized content but don't understand which calendar that is affecting.  Moreover, since I want to change the name rule for three different calendars I want instructions from you on how to do it for each one.

Finally, in the personal calendar on the left side there is the message about selecting a personal email account. Should we be using this feature?  If not, we should remove the message.  If so, I need to provide users with the step by step to set it up.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hey Thomas,

From the top of the page in any space toolbar Browse Calendar: This is the top level/company wide calendar for Company events? We tried to use this for a company event and the invitees received an error message when trying to select the event and indicate going to the event.

Where did the users click to RSVP - from the email invitation or on the event page in Communifire? Please share the error message.

Also, what feeds into this calendar and how do we change what feeds into this calendar? For example, resources Allocated should be feeding into the company calendar, company wide events with "All Invited' should appear.

Could you clarify this question? Are you asking about localized content or about Event Resources ?

From the top of the page in any space toolbar User drop down Calendar: This is the user's personal calendar. Can we change the name of the calendar to "User's first name" Calendar?

The resource key for the personal calendar is MyCalendarText. It isn't possible to add the user's first name to the resource.

And finally, can we change the name of calendar in the drop menu and on its calendar page to "Key Lime Calendar?"

From a space left side menu Calendar: This is the space calendar. Events in the space calendar asymmetrically propagate the personal calendar of the invitees once accepted. Can we change the name of the calendar to "Space Name" Calendar?

I see Calendar Name under localized content but don't understand which calendar that is affecting. Moreover, since I want to change the name rule for three different calendars I want instructions from you on how to do it for each one.

The resource keys for calendars are as follows:

    • MyCalendarText - The "Calendar" text for 1) the personal calendar in the user header dropdown menu and 2) on the My Calendar page in the breadcrumbs
    • CalendarHeaderText - The "Calendar" text on 1) the calendar page for the top level calendar, 2) the calendar page for all space calendars, and 3) for the date picker on the personal calendar page
    • EventCalendarViewText - The text for the "Calendar" tab in the space menu for all spaces

It isn't possible to customize the calendar name for each space or for the top level calendar alone. Note that in the personal calendar, you can click the event to see which calendar the event is for. This appears below the event name.

I've read the support documents and don't find a good explanation of the various calendars and their relationship.

The top level calendar and each space calendar are separate. Users can see all the events they are attending as well as their personal events in My Calendar.

Finally, in the personal calendar on the left side there is the message about selecting a personal email account. Should we be using this feature? If not, we should remove the message. If so, I need to provide users with the step by step to set it up.

This feature sends event email invitations using the user's email address instead of the site email address. To hide the message, add the code below to Control Panel > System > CSS Overrides .

    .calendar-sidebar-tip {display: none;}

I am asking what events propagate into the top level calendar?  Is it only events created i nteh top level calendar? Or, do events created in a space calendar that is public with invite all selected propagate ot the top level calendar?  Right now we have nothing flowing into this calendar and no one understands why?

    Hey Thomas,

Only events created in the top level calendar appear in Browse > Calendar.

Go to Browse > Calendar, click List, and next to the plus icon, select Newest. Do you see top level events listed there? If not, go to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Utilities and Rebuild Search Index .
