Profile fields define the criteria used to include users in a persona. Each condition is based on a field from the user profile, such as Department, Hire Date, or City.
A persona can be built from a single profile field condition. Each condition compares a profile field, an operator, and a value. Operators may include Equals, Does not equal, Contains, Doesn’t contain, Begins with, or Ends with, depending on the field type in the user profile.
The number of users who meet the condition appears under Matched People. In this example, the persona matches all users in the Human Resources department.
Multiple conditions can be added to refine the results further. Each new condition narrows the list of matching users. When adding more than one condition, an AND/OR selector appears at the end of the first condition line. This defines how the system evaluates the criteria:
ANDAll listed conditions must be true for a user to match the persona. The AND condition combines multiple inputs so that only users who meet every specified criterion are included.
ORAny one of the listed conditions can be true for a user to match the persona. The OR condition expands the match to include users who meet at least one of the defined criteria.
List users with Department and Hire Date
Click the Add Condition tab as shown.
In this case, we use the Greater than attribute to list users whose Hire Date is greater than January 1, 2021.
To do this, select Hire Date for the profile field and Greater than attribute from the dropdown menu. Then select the date as shown:
Only users who meet both conditions appear under Matched People. The list now narrows down to one user.
On clicking the user profile, we see that Christine Jackson is in the Human Resources department and has a Hire Date on January 6, 2021.
