User Space Assignment Rules | Axero Documentation

You can create rules to assign people to specific spaces based on their email domain and/or their role. This reduces space administration, cutting the number of space applications and invitations. You can create as many assignment rules as you like.

Email domain-based rules are applied when a user first registers and when the rule is created. Role-based rules are applied when the rule is created and each time a person's roles change. Users are removed from spaces if they no longer meet the role qualifications for the space.

Assignment rules and Personas both write space membership, and neither knows about the other. They run from different screens on their own triggers, so a rule can put people back into a space you emptied by hand, or add people a persona was written to keep out. Before using a persona to control who is in a space, come here first (Control Panel > People > User / Space Assignment Rules) and delete any rule targeting that same space. The reverse is also true: people a rule added are never removed by a persona, because a persona only removes people it added itself.

Add User/Space Assignment Rules

1. Go to Control Panel > People > User / Space Assignment Rules.
2. Select the space to assign the users to.
3. Select the role the users will have in that space.
4. Enter the email domain this rule should be applied for.
   • Do not include the at-symbol (@).
   • To apply the rule for all email domains, enter * .
5. Select a role to limit the rule to a group of users. To apply the rule for all roles, select All.
6. Click Save.

Users are added to the space immediately.

Delete User/Space Assignment Rules

Delete a user/space assignment rule to stop automatically adding users to a space. When you delete a rule, users are not removed from the space.

1. Go to Control Panel > People > User / Space Assignment Rules.
2. For the rule, click the delete icon.
3. Click OK.
