Using URL mappings, you can create URL redirects. As an example, if you deleted an article, but you have linked this article in many places, you could create a URL mapping to redirect the old URL to a new URL. If you have a public intranet, this also helps Google know where to redirect users.

Add URL Mapping

1. Click the gear icon > Control Panel > System > URL Mapper.
2. Click Add URL Mapper.
3. Enter the Old URL.
4. Enter the New URL to redirect to.
5. Select the Redirect Type. Usually 301.
6. Check Is Active to enable the redirect immediately.
7. Click Save.

Edit URL Mapping

1. Click the gear icon > Control Panel > System > URL Mapper.
2. For a mapping, click the edit icon.
3. Make changes to the mapping.
4. Click Update.

Delete URL Mapping

1. Click the gear icon > Control Panel > System > URL Mapper.
2. Check mappings.
3. Click Delete.
4. Click OK.

Note: To remove the protocol (http|https) from URLs during redirects, use the RemoveProtocolOnRedirect system property. Set this property to "true" to enable this feature. The default value is "false"
