The License Manager is where you add or update the license key for a domain.
On an on-premises site the license is tied to the exact site address. Any other address does not match the license, and the site reports the license as invalid. That includes a test URL during a migration, a changed domain, and an address that differs only by a subdomain.
If the address is changing, get the license reissued for the new address before you switch over, not after.
Note: Entering an incorrect license key will make the site inaccessible. If your site is inaccessible due to an incorrect license key, please submit a private case to the Axero team.
Go to Control Panel > System > License Manager, choose the domain, enter the key, and click Save and Validate License Key.
To get a license key, read Custom Domain Name in Domain Configuration.
Note: Banned users do not count toward the license user limit.
Your site checks the license once a day. If the license is no longer active, or you have more users than it allows, a red banner appears in the Control Panel and you receive invalid license emails.
If you have more users than the license allows, ban, deactivate, or delete active users until you are back under the limit. The invalid license message disappears at the next check (within 24 hours). To check the license again and clear the message right away, go to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Utilities and restart the site. The site pauses for a few minutes while it restarts.
Validation needs an outbound connection. The check contacts Axero's license server, so your site's server must be able to reach it. On a network that blocks outgoing traffic by default, the check never completes, and a valid license reports as invalid. If the banner appears and the license itself is fine, check the firewall before the key.
To add more users, contact your Client Success Manager.
