This page describes the older Email Templates editor, which is what a site sees unless an administrator has switched the newer one on. If your site uses Email Template Manager, the screens differ; Email Template Manager explains the difference and how to tell which you have.
Permanently delete custom email templates from Control Panel > System > Email Templates. To disable email templates instead, see Disable or Enable Email Template.
Do not delete or rename default system email templates. This could result in system instability.
