Overview

Axero provides native mobile apps for iOS and Android devices, enabling your team to stay connected and productive from anywhere. There are two options: the public Axero App, ready today, and a branded app published under your own name.

What you'll accomplish: This guide will help you understand the available mobile app options, choose the right one for your organization, and successfully deploy mobile access to your Axero intranet.

Choose Your Mobile App Option

Axero offers two options, to fit different organizational needs:

• Axero App (Public App): a ready-to-use, Axero-branded app available today in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The fastest way to give your team mobile access, with nothing to set up.
• Branded App (White-Label): the same app carrying your organization's name, logo and colors, published under your own developer account. A paid add-on that takes several weeks to launch.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

• An Axero intranet: your organization must have an active Axero site
• Your sign-in details: the username and password you use for that site
• A compatible device: an iOS or Android device that meets the System Requirements
• An Internet connection: needed to download the app and to use it

For Branded Apps Only:

• The white-label option, purchased: it is a paid add-on
• Developer accounts: an Apple Developer account, a Google Play Console account, or both, depending on which stores you are publishing to
• Brand assets: your logo and brand colors, in the sizes and formats listed under Submission Process
• Firebase Project (Android Only): A Firebase project configured for Android push notifications

System Requirements

Ensure your device meets the minimum requirements before downloading the Axero mobile app.

Supported Languages

The Axero mobile apps are available in multiple languages to support your global workforce.

Currently Supported Languages

• Arabic
• Dutch
• English
• French
• German
• Hebrew
• Portuguese
• Spanish

English is the default. Your site administrator controls which of these languages the app offers, so you may see fewer than the full list depending on how your intranet is set up.

Request Additional Languages

If your organization requires support for additional languages, submit a support case with your language requirements. The Axero team will review your request and provide information about availability and implementation timelines.

Security Features

Axero mobile apps include built-in security features to protect your organization's data and ensure secure access.

Automatic Screen Lock

Automatic screen lock secures the app when it is not in use: after a set period of inactivity the app locks itself, and unlocking it takes a biometric check rather than your password.

The app settings carry one toggle for this, named for the method your device supports: Screen lock with Face ID, Screen lock with Finger ID, or Screen lock with Biometric auth where the device reports something else. Which name you see depends on your device hardware and operating system, not on anything set in Axero. On a device with no biometric set up there is nothing to unlock with, so the lock screen does not hold the app, and the device passcode is not offered as a fallback.

Axero App (Public App)

The Axero App is the quickest way to give your team mobile access. This ready-to-use app is available immediately in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, with no setup or customization required.

Who Should Use the Public App

The public Axero App is ideal for organizations that:

• Need immediate mobile access without waiting for custom app development
• Want to minimize setup time and technical requirements
• Don't require custom branding on the mobile app
• Prefer a cost-effective mobile solution

Download the Public App

Download the Axero App directly from your device's app store:

Installation steps:

1. Open the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) on your device
2. Search for "Axero" in the app store
3. Tap Get (iOS) or Install (Android) to download the app
4. Wait for the installation to complete
5. Tap Open to launch the app

Sign In to the Public App

After installing the app, follow these steps to sign in and access your Axero intranet:

1. Enter your Axero domain: On the first screen, type your organization's intranet address. The protocol is optional, so mycompany.com and https://mycompany.com both work
   • If Axero hosts your site, the address looks like mycompany.axero.io
2. Tap Next: The app will connect to your intranet
3. Enter your login information: Use the same username and password you use to access your intranet from a web browser
4. Tap Next: You'll be logged in and taken to your intranet's mobile home screen

Troubleshooting Sign-In: Public App

If you encounter problems signing in to the public app:

• "Site is unavailable or it is a wrong URL": Check the address you typed. You do not need to include https://, the app adds it for you
• Cannot connect: Check your Internet connection and ensure your device has network access
• Login failed: Confirm you're using the correct username and password for your intranet account
• Account locked: Contact your intranet administrator if your account has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts
• Two-factor authentication issues: If your organization uses two-factor authentication, ensure you complete the verification step after entering your password
• Content not loading: Verify your account has proper permissions to access the intranet and that your organization's intranet is online and accessible

Updating the Public App

The Axero mobile app receives regular updates with new features, improvements, and security enhancements.

How updates work:

• Automatic Updates: If you have automatic updates enabled in your device's app store settings, the app will update automatically when new versions are released
• Manual Updates: To manually check for updates, open the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android), search for "Axero," and tap Update if available
• Update Notifications: You may receive in-app notifications when important updates are available

Branded App (White-Label)

A branded app, sold as the white-label option, is the Axero mobile app published under your organization's name and branding. Your people see your intranet as your own app rather than as Axero's.

What is a Branded App?

A branded app carries:

• Your Organization's Name: The app appears in app stores under your company name, not "Axero"
• Your Logo and Branding: Custom app icon, splash screen, and login screen featuring your brand
• Your Color Theme: Brand colors integrated throughout the app interface
• Your Developer Account: Published under your company's Apple Developer and/or Google Play Console account

Who Should Use the Branded App

A branded app is worth it for organizations that:

• Want to provide a fully branded mobile experience to employees or members
• Need the app to reflect their corporate identity and brand standards
• Prefer to own and control the app listing in app stores
• Have the resources to manage developer accounts and app submissions

Download Your Branded App

Your branded app can be distributed in two ways, depending on your organization's needs:

Public Listing

With public listing, your branded app is searchable and visible in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Characteristics:

• Anyone can find and download the app by searching for your organization's name
• The app appears in public app store search results
• Only authorized users with valid credentials can sign in and access content
• Best for organizations that want broad visibility and easy discovery

To download:

1. Open the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
2. Search for your organization's app name
3. Tap Get or Install to download
4. Open the app after installation completes

Private Distribution

With private distribution, your branded app is not searchable in public app stores and requires a direct link or enterprise distribution method.

Characteristics:

• The app does not appear in public app store search results
• Users either receive a link or a redemption code from your organization, or the app arrives on its own if the device is managed
• Can be distributed through Apple Business Manager or Managed Google Play for enterprise deployment
• Best for internal use, employee-only access, or controlled distribution

To download:

1. On a managed device, wait for the app to install or accept the prompt your device management tool shows. There is nothing to search for and no link to follow
2. Otherwise, get the link or redemption code from your IT department, open it on your device, and follow the prompts
3. Open the app after installation completes

Sign In to Your Branded App

Signing in to a branded app takes one step fewer than the public app, because your Axero domain is already built in.

To sign in:

1. Open your branded app: Launch the app from your device's home screen
2. Enter your login information: Type your username and password (the same credentials you use for the web version of your intranet)
3. Tap Next: You'll be logged in and taken to your intranet's mobile home screen

Troubleshooting Sign-In: Branded App

If you encounter problems signing in to your branded app:

• Login failed: Verify you're using the correct username and password for your intranet account
• Cannot connect: Check your Internet connection and ensure your device has network access
• Account locked: Contact your intranet administrator if your account has been locked
• App not loading: Try closing and reopening the app, or restarting your device
• App crashes on launch: Uninstall and reinstall the app from your app store. If the problem persists, contact your IT administrator
• Two-factor authentication issues: If your organization uses two-factor authentication, ensure you complete the verification step after entering your password
• Content not loading: Verify your account has proper permissions to access the intranet and that your organization's intranet is online and accessible
• Push notifications not working: Check that notifications are enabled in your device settings for the app (Settings > Notifications > [Your App Name])

Updating Your Branded App

Your branded app receives updates managed by your organization, including new features, improvements, and security enhancements.

How updates work:

• Automatic Updates: If you have automatic updates enabled in your device's app store settings, the app will update automatically when your organization releases new versions
• Manual Updates: To manually check for updates, open the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android), go to your app, and tap Update if available
• Update Notifications: Your organization may notify you when important updates are available
• Organization-Controlled: Update timing and availability are controlled by your organization's IT team

Customize Your Branded App

This section covers building and submitting your branded app: what you can customize, what assets to prepare, and how to send it all to Axero.

Customization Options

Your branded app carries your organization's branding across several visual elements. The table below shows what each platform supports.

Understanding Each Customizable Element

• App Icon: The icon that appears on users' device home screens and in app stores. This should be your organization's logo or a recognizable brand symbol.
• App Name: The name displayed below the app icon and in app store listings. This is typically your organization's name or intranet name.
• Splash Screen: The full-screen image displayed briefly when the app launches. This provides a branded loading experience.
• Login Logo: The logo displayed on the login screen where users enter their credentials. This reinforces your brand identity at the point of authentication.

Launch Schedule

Knowing the timeline for your branded app launch helps you plan and set expectations with your team. The process runs in three phases:

Tips for Faster Launch

• Prepare assets in advance: Have all required images and information ready before you open the form, which does not save your progress
• Respond promptly: Reply quickly to any questions or requests from the Axero team
• Follow specifications exactly: Ensure all assets meet the exact size and format requirements to avoid delays
• Complete developer accounts early: Set up your Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts before beginning the submission process

Submission Process

Everything you send Axero goes through one online form. Work through the steps below to prepare what it asks for.

What the Form Asks For

Everything Axero needs to build your app arrives through one online form: White-Label App Request. Read what it asks for first, work through the four steps below, and submit the form at the end. Your Technical Account Manager works through it with you.

The form is a single page with no section headings, so plan on scrolling. It asks for:

• App details: your Axero site URL, the app stores you are publishing to, who will use the app, your application name (50 characters or fewer, and not already taken by another app, public or private), and your bundle identifier (Step 2)
• Feature validation: whether your app is English only or global, the features your users and the app reviewer can reach, a test account for app store review, and confirmation that you have checked your site in the Axero app
• Store listing: a short description, a long description, keywords, your privacy policy URL, support URL, marketing URL, and a copyright line
• Branding: your brand colors and the image uploads described in Step 1
• Google Play details: your Google account type, whether Axero has admin or specific permissions in your Play Console, two push notification confirmations, and your google-services.json file (Step 3)
• App Store details: your Apple organization name and organization ID, your publish type (searchable, unlisted or private), and the access level you granted Axero in App Store Connect

Step 1: Create and Prepare Brand Assets

Create the following image files according to the exact specifications below, then upload each one to its matching field on the form. All images must meet the size and format requirements to ensure proper display across devices.

After creating your assets:

1. Verify each file meets the exact dimensions specified
2. Give each file a name you will recognize, so you can match it to the right upload field
3. Upload each file to its own field on the form

Step 2: Choose Your Bundle Identifier

What is a bundle identifier? A bundle identifier is a unique string that identifies your app across app stores, devices, and the mobile ecosystem. Once set, it cannot be changed without creating a new app submission.

Format: com.domainname.appname

Examples:

• com.acmecorp.intranet
• com.yourcompany.mobile

Best practices:

• Use your organization's domain name in reverse order
• Use only lowercase letters, numbers, and periods
• Make it descriptive but concise
• Ensure it's unique to your organization

What to do: Enter it in the Bundle Identifier field on the form.

Step 3: Create a Firebase Project (Android Apps Only)

If you're submitting an Android app, you must create a Firebase project to enable push notifications and other mobile features.

Requirements:

• Use your official Google Play Console account to create the Firebase project
• The Firebase project must be linked to your Google Play Console account

What to do:

1. Follow the detailed instructions in Create a Firebase Project
2. Configure push notifications in the Firebase project before you download anything, because the file records that configuration
3. Download the google-services.json file from your Firebase project
4. Upload it to the Upload your google-services.json field on the form, which appears once you select Google as an app store

Step 4: Grant Axero Access and Submit the Form

Grant Axero access to your developer accounts first. Axero builds and submits the app under your accounts, so it needs a user in each one, and the form asks you to confirm the access is in place and give the date you granted it.

• Apple: invite the Axero user named on the form to App Store Connect, then tell the form which access you granted. App Manager access covers every aspect of an app including delivery, which is what most launches use (Role permissions).
• Google: invite the same user to your Google Play Console. The form asks whether you gave admin permissions or specific permissions, and specific permissions means all of these:
  • App access: view app information, create and delete draft apps
  • Release management: manage production releases, manage testing tracks (internal, closed, open), manage app signing
  • Store presence: manage store listing (production and testing), manage store settings such as graphics and descriptions
  • Policy and compliance: manage app content (privacy, ads, target audience)

Where the form asks for your Google organization ID, that value lives in the Managed Google Play section of your device management tool, such as Microsoft Intune. It is not in the Play Console, and the account ID shown there is a different number.

Then submit. Answer every question, upload your images and your google-services.json file, and send the form. From there the Axero team tracks your build in a support case named for your site, and that case is where the rest of the conversation happens.

What Happens Next

After you submit your materials:

1. Confirmation: The Axero team will confirm receipt of your submission within 1-2 business days
2. Review: Your assets and information will be reviewed for completeness and technical requirements
3. Questions: If anything is missing or needs clarification, the team will contact you through the support case
4. Development: Once everything is approved, development of your branded app begins
5. Updates: You'll receive progress updates through your support case
6. Testing: Before final submission to app stores, you'll have an opportunity to test the app
7. Launch: After your approval, the app will be submitted to Apple and Google for review
