Download Markdown lets you download supported content as Markdown, a plain-text format, for use in AI tools, knowledge bases, or offline documentation.

Note: The Download Markdown option appears only when the ContentMarkdownEnabled system property, an administrator setting, is turned on. It is on by default. If you don't see the option, contact your Client Success Manager.

Supported Content Types

Download Markdown is available for:

  • Articles
  • Wikis
  • Blogs
  • Ideas
  • Broadcasts
  • Cases

Download Markdown

  1. Open a supported content item.
  2. Select the gear icon in the bar under the title.
  3. Select Download Markdown.

An article page, with the gear icon at the right-hand end of the bar that also shows the comment count, view count, and rating.

The same article with the gear menu open, listing Edit, Print, Share, Notify People, Bookmark, Report abuse, Export to PDF, Download Markdown, Version History, View Report, Delete, Copy, Move, and Promote in Search.

Download Results

Content with only text downloads as a single Markdown (.md) file. Content with images or attachments stored on your site downloads as a ZIP package that holds the Markdown file and those files. Images linked from other websites stay as links.

Notes

  • The download includes the comment thread, on cases and on other content.
  • Download Markdown sits next to Export to PDF in the same menu, and appears on the same content as that option does.
  • The download is in the language you are viewing the content in.
