Mobile Chat keeps you connected with your team wherever you go. Use your mobile device to send instant messages and collaborate in real-time, whether you're chatting one-on-one or working with a group.
What you can do with Mobile Chat:
Before you can use Mobile Chat, ensure the following requirements are met:
Mobile Chat can be enabled or disabled for the entire organization:
Enable Chat and define how people can communicate with each other across the organization:
Note: When the Chat feature is turned OFF, Mobile Chat will be hidden from all users. If you select "Each person decides," individual users can control who can chat with them through their personal Preferences.

Understanding these key concepts will help you get the most out of Mobile Chat.
Your chat status tells your team members whether you're available to chat. Set your status to manage expectations and reduce interruptions when you need to focus.
Your chat status appears in Direct Messages and in the Chat header, making it easy for team members to see your availability at a glance.
Visual indicators help you quickly identify which messages you've read and which ones need your attention.
The badge count is a numbered indicator that appears on the app icon or within the app interface. It shows how many unread notifications or messages require your attention.
Important: The badge count in the "More" section indicates the number of unread threads (conversations), not the total number of unread messages. For example, if you have 3 unread conversations with 10 total messages, the badge will show "3."
Understanding who can do what in a conversation helps you manage your chats effectively:
Follow these steps to start using Mobile Chat effectively.
Let your team know when you're available by setting your chat status.
Result: Your status will remain active until you change it or close the app. Other users will see your updated status next to your name in their chat lists.
Create a one-on-one chat or group conversation to collaborate with your team.
Result: A new conversation window opens, allowing you to start chatting immediately. Messages you send will be delivered to all participants.
Tip: When you create a group chat, you become the conversation creator and gain special permissions to manage the conversation.
Keep your conversations organized and manage participants effectively.
Expand your group chat by adding new participants. New members will be able to see the entire conversation history and access any shared files.
Result: The new participants immediately appear in the conversation and can see the full message history. They'll receive a notification that they've been added to the group.
Important: Only the person who created the group chat can add new participants. If you didn't start the conversation, you'll need to ask the creator to add people.
Customize your group conversation by setting a descriptive title and managing who's included.
Result: Your changes are saved immediately. All participants will see the updated conversation title in their chat lists.
Important: Only the person who created the group chat can change conversation settings. Other participants can view settings but cannot modify them.
Pin important conversations to the top of your chat list so you can access them quickly.
Result: The conversation will now appear at the top of your chat list, marked with a star. To unfavorite, repeat the same steps and tap the star icon again.
Alternative method: Open the conversation, tap the info icon at the top, and select "Add to Favorites" or toggle the favorite option.
Clear unread indicators from conversations you've already reviewed to keep your chat list organized.
Result: The unread badge will be removed from the conversation, and the badge count will update accordingly. The conversation remains in your list, but no longer shows as unread.
Alternative method: Open the conversation to view the messages. Once you've viewed them, they'll automatically be marked as read.
Customize how you receive notifications and control your chat availability.
Control when and how you receive chat notifications to balance staying informed with avoiding distractions.
You can also manage chat notifications from your web-based preferences:
If you encounter issues with Mobile Chat, try these solutions:
Symptoms: The Chat icon is missing from the navigation menu, or you see a message saying "Chat is not available" or "This feature is disabled."
Possible causes and solutions:
Symptoms: You're not getting push notifications when new messages arrive, or you're missing alerts for chat activity.
Symptoms: The "Add Participants" option is missing or grayed out, or you see an error message when trying to add someone.
Symptoms: The badge number doesn't match the number of unread messages you expect, or the badge shows a number, but you don't see any unread conversations.
Explanation:
Remember that the badge count in the "More" section shows the number of unread conversations (threads), not individual messages. If you have multiple unread messages in a single conversation, it will only count as "1" in the badge.
Solution:
Symptoms: Your message shows a "sending" indicator indefinitely, or you see an error icon next to your message.
