This page describes the daily digest in Email Template Manager. If your site still uses the older Email Templates editor, see Daily Digest Email instead. Email Template Manager explains the difference and how to tell which you have.
The Daily Digest email summarizes what happened in a person's spaces over the past day, so they can catch up on what they missed and follow it back to the content.
To customize the daily digest, navigate to Control Panel > System > Email Templates and open the Daily Digest email template.
The default daily digest email starts with the community name and a friendly greeting. Then you'll see a repeater to cycle through each of the person's spaces. The space name is prominently displayed before showing its activities.
Nested in the space repeater is an activity repeater that cycles through each activity for the space. In the default setup, each activity entry includes the name of the activity, the user who performed it, and a brief description. The receiver will see entries like "John Doe | Liked a photo album: Marketing updates," which tells them who made the update and what was updated. The image on the left of the activity is the avatar of the person who performed the action. This structure allows recipients to easily see what's happening in each group and who is involved.
At the bottom of the email, there is an explanation on how the recipient can change which spaces are included and a link for the recipient to stop receiving the digest all together.
You can directly edit the template, which makes customization quick.
Subject and Body: You can customize both the subject line and the body of the email using tokens which can be selected from dropdown menus for dynamic, relevant, and personalized content. Available tokens include the display name for the recipient and all of the person's profile field information, content details (content count, author display name, body, category, and more), space details (name, description, member count, URLs), activity details (date, summary text, user's display name, user's avatar image URL, user's profile URL), and general information (application URL, community name, current date, current year, default header, and styles).
